Why G.A. Fleet for Plumbing & Fire Protection?

We do more than just look at pump selection charts and pick the closest. We ask questions.

We understand your project and the application before we help you pick the right pump, water heater, control valve or system. We act as your second set of eyes, so we can cross-check and learn from each other. Our goal is to catch "paper" mistakes rather than fix real ones in the field later on.

Sump and sewage pumping applications may be the most sensitive to proper pump selection. If the design flow rate is too small or the head too low (for instance if the pit depth is not included) the pump will not keep up with the flow or will not be able to discharge the effluent from the pit. More frequently, the design flow and the design pump head are too large. This may result in the short cycling: the pump starting and stopping too frequently. Some of the questions you can expect from your G.A. Fleet technician before we recommend a pump:

  • What are the type and quantity of fixtures, or fixture units, coming into the pit?
  • What is the depth of the pit, and the elevation of the bottom of the pit?
  • What is the elevation of the point of gravity discharge?
  • What is the invert elevation? How much depth is there below the invert?
  • Besides the quality of the equipment & field service, it is this attention to detail and tenacity in understanding your situation before we design a solution that is the value of working with G.A. Fleet.
