The Water Pollution Control Facility at North Branford, CT had two notable problems with their Burban Street station: 1) clogging from modern day trash and stringy materials, and 2) fats, oils, and grease (FOG) from a nearby nursing home and other resaurants.

The clogging issue was quickly resolved with Xylem’s Flygt N technology pumps. For the persistent FOG problem, Fleet proposed a Flygt MultiSmart controller with advanced features for wet well cleaning. The wet well cleaning with the N impeller and pump reversal action proved highly successful in alleviating the FOG. Fleet supported the town through the start-up of the controller and the set up of their SCADA system. As a result, personnel can now predictively monitor pump efficiency.
